Summary

Edinburgh to Dundee to Perth - 80 miles, 23 stations and the world’s most famous railway bridge!

This route links Scotland’s present-day capital of Edinburgh with its ancient royal capital of Perth. The line crosses the Firth of Tay at Dundee and is a treat for sightseers as well as train drivers. The 80 miles of track have been carefully modelled along with the 23 stations on the main route. Four additional stations on the diverging tracks are also modelled.

Travel from Waverley station in Edinburgh past the foot of the castle to Haymarket. Take in the iconic Scottish Rugby Union Murrayfield stadium and then cross the Firth of Forth on that famous symbol of Scotland, the Forth Rail Bridge between Dalmeny and North Queensferry.

Then it’s down the steep incline into Inverkeithing past the Rosyth Royal Naval Dockyards and onwards. Drive through RAF Leuchars and on to the Firth of Tay over the rail bridge, passing the stumps of the old bridge, and into the city of Dundee. The route also extends from Dundee through the villages of Invergowrie and Errol along the banks of the river Tay, over the single line Perth viaduct, then into Perth.

Scottish East Coast Main Line is loosely based on the 2006-2007 period when the GNER operating company was just turning into National Express and Waverley station had just been rebuilt.

The list of landmarks that have been accurately modelled is huge and includes the Forth Rail Bridge, Tay Rail Bridge, Murrayfield Stadium and Edinburgh Castle. Animated cars, ships and aircraft are also included and 12 challenging scenarios complete a perfectly rounded package. Take the train north and enjoy the view!
