Summary

American Football, ‘Gridiron’ - call it what you will, but no season is really getting going until a new Madden from EA Sports comes along. Madden NFL 12 starts the season.

The game comes with all 32 teams, stadiums, and players in the USA’s National Football League to choose from.

Added to the classic franchise this year are:

A New Collision System: from tackling to blocking the improved system makes use of a player’s momentum and over 100 new tackle animations and 40 gang tackles to give harder and more game effecting hits, stolen tackles, and consecutive hit tackling.

Improved and advanced Defensive AI. EA Sports had brought more than100 defensive A.I. enhancements. For example AI players in zone and man coverage will properly recognize and react to plays.

Custom Playbooks: at last they are here. Gamers can now modify an existing playbook (from the 75 that exist in game) or create their own using more than 400 offensive or defensive plays. The playbooks can then be integrated into the overall game plan for use with the updated GameFlow system.

Of course, Madden NFL Ultimate Team is in there, featuring a combination of Madden NFL Football, fantasy football, and trading card play.

Also improved over previous versions in the Madden NFL series is the ‘Broadcast presentation’ aspect that has more than 500 broadcast cameras that are authentically placed in each NFL stadium. Also incorporated are on-field camera shots that have been taken by real expert NFL Films cameramen.

Other game features that have been updated or added include:

Franchise Mode with 100 new features and enhancements from expanded rosters, a new rookie scouting system and a free-agent bidding system.

Superstar mode, in which gamers can guide their chosen player in a new “Progression System” featuring Skill Points to be gained.

Dynamic Player Performance, a new feature sees a players confidence (and therefore performance levels) rise or fall depending on how they perform (and how the gamer controls them) in game time.

Online play has also been brought up to date with new Communities to take part in.
