Summary
The return of classic game characters Bub and Bob from very depths of gaming history provides today’s gamers with the ability to test both brains and reflexes in Puzzle Bobble Universe.
In fact, it gets even better than that given that Taito (which originated the arcade version) and Square Enix are bringing the rebooted old favourite to Nintendo’s new 3DS.
Our heroes, Bub’n’Bob – who also happen to be cute dinosaurs - have found an unmanned spaceship after hearing a cry for help. Not only that, but their quest to discover the source of the SOS is dealt a powerful blow by the fact that surrounding them are space doors that are releasing bubbles which are threatening to litter up the route. It gets worse as Bob is captured by The Boss leaving Bub not only to clear up the bubbly mess but also to rescue his friend.
Puzzle Bobble Universe is a puzzler for all ages that features a brand new trophy system. It also comes with two game modes in the form of Puzzle Mode and Challenge Mode.
Puzzle Mode enables players to visit eight different worlds each of which has 10+1 stages (that’s 88 stages in all!)
Challenge Mode lets players choose from a selection of challenge modes including Non-Stop Bubbles, and timed games where they have to burst as many bubbles as possible in 100 and 300 seconds.
There are also Gimmick Bubbles. These feature visual effects with the depth enabled by the 3DS which are added into the classic puzzle mode.
