Summary

Warhammer is certainly a series that doesn’t hold back. Its fantasy, orc-smashing strategy action is pretty brutal - not to mention the hardcore die-rolling! So it’s no surprise that 40,000 has had a fair few video game adaptations. Retribution is actually the second expansion pack in the Dawn of War II series, set a decade after the events of the first pack Chaos Rising.

The world is still under turmoil, despite the defeat of the Black Legion and the Great Daemon Ulkair. Constant warring between races break out when Blood Raven’s Captain Gabriel is branded a traitor to the nation following the discovery of several acts of heresy. Not only that, but the xenos threat continues around the sector, and Imperial forces try to hold back the invasion of the Tyranid. Orcs are running amok and the Eldar still sit in the shadows and moan about everything.

So it has come to this - the Imperium has stepped in and taken over the planet’s defence forces. While those loyal soldiers try to stave off the chaos in the short-term, behind the scenes there’s a more sinister plot going on - one to burn every world to ashes, purging the lives of each race, under the fires of the Exterminatus.

This new campaign contains new maps, new units and a renewed spotlight on all of the factions in the Warhammer 40,000 universe - alongside the ability to control the Imperial Guard yourself.
