Summary

It’s JRPG revival season all year round on Sony’s PSP, with the platform playing host to many remakes and updates from a plethora of Japanese classics. Now, Square Enix is bringing a cult favourite strategy game back in the form of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. We’re not exactly sure what everyone’s clinging to exactly - most likely each other - but they’re doing it with a new presentation style, reworked soundtrack and revamped gameplay mechanics.

Originally released for the SNES and developed by the original Tactics Ogre development team, you lead a pack of heroes throughout vast 3D landscapes and engage in turn-based battles that are peppered with up-to-date special effects. Arrange your many characters in a position on the battlefield that will best offer a tactical advantage and tackle evil monsters.

You can level up your characters using brand new growth mechanics that include a near-limitless array of customisation. Each character class has specific weaknesses and advantages, but a new Battle Skill feature adds more abilities that go beyond the Magic and Special skills. Add to this a new Wheel of Fortune system - no, not that Wheel of Fortune - and you have a game that respects its origins as well as updates its classic gameplay for a modern audience. Why not go ahead and cling to us? Go on.
