Summary

Patapon 3 continues in the same musical-cum-puzzling fun and challenge as Patapon and Patapon 2, all of which are designed by the mind of French artist Rolito.

Basically, Patapon 3 is a mix of rhythm and God game genres. A strange mix, but nevertheless one that makes the most of the PSP. This time around the little Patapon folk have discovered what looks like a very interesting box, which, of course, they open. Out fly seven demonic creatures who turn all the tiny tribes-people to stone. Well, nearly all of them, one: Hatapon, remains and must use of all his wit and wisdom to help his people.

As with the previous Patapon games, the player must control the diminutive tribe members using 'talking drums' or button presses as we humans know them. Hence the rhythm game dynamic. These 'drums' direct the Patapon people to complete tasks and solve challenges, enabling them to defeat the enemy and return their lands to freedom.

To achieve anything, you have to make sure that the Patapons (or 'Units') are cooperating using their individual skills. These include: Hatapon - the team builder and flag waver. Lose Hatapon and you lose the challenge. Yaripon – a spear-thrower. Tatepon – an axe-wielder Patapon, good for defence. Yumipon – an archer Patapon. Kibapon – Horse riding, cavalry member. Dekapon – a Mace wielder – a bit slow and thick. Megapon – the musician and a key member.

The game can be played out with up to eight players in Ad Hoc and also Infrastructure modes.
