Summary
Darts has always been seen as a game of intense skill, rather than a sport to get active for. Once relegated to the back rooms of pubs and other social areas, today darts has a huge massmarket appeal with championship games becoming major events and celebrities attending them. Even the darts players themselves have become celebrities in their own right.
Which is why Phil 'The Power' Taylor appears so prominently on the cover of PDC World Championship Darts: Pro Tour – he is easily the 'face' of the game, and now in this home console edition you get to truly feel like you're a part of the action. You can play as Phil Taylor as well if you like, otherwise there's a large range of equally famous darts players to take control of.
Six new players have been added to the roster this year, including Premier League semi-finalists Mervyn King and Simon Whitlock. Each pro has their own style of throwing and their own unique type of dart, so when it comes to judging just how much power you need to have it's worth bearing in mind who you're playing as.
Brand new commentary from Sid Waddell and John Gwynne helps add to the atmosphere, and speaking of which there are several new stadiums to play in as well, each with new crowds and celebratory cheers.
