Summary

There's no escaping it – football is Britain's top national sport. So why not celebrate that fact with a new game that aptly represents it? Pure Football is a new face in the league of annual FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer games, but just like in the beautiful game it's got a good heart, and that will see it go places.

Rather than emphasise the simulation aspects of the sport, Pure Football focuses on the intense, physical and spectacular aspects. Which is a good thing really, because every football fan loves watching a player show off some flashy moves. It achieves this with a specialised camera that is set over-the-shoulder, with an intense audio experience that dynamically reacts to the situations of the match.

The result is an arguably more immersive experience than your usual virtual 90 minute game. To speed up the action and make it even more dramatic, Pure Football pits five-a-side teams against one another. When you consider that this involves 230 elite footballers and 17 international teams, that's certainly more than enough to create your very own dream team.

Add to this the ability to create and customise your very own player, along with four-player local and 1-on-1 online multiplayer matches and leaderboards, and you have a game that is more than game enough for some exciting football action.
