If you don't know what Zhu Zhu Pets are, there's a good chance you're not a young girl. These interactive hamster toys have been a serious craze in the children's market, offering a virtual pet-style environment coupled with the ability to build an evolving 'hamsterworld' for the artificially intelligent creatures to explore.
It's no surprise then, that these adorable little things star in a handheld computer game for the Nintendo DS. The first in a series, this Zhu Zhu Pets title gives you all the perks of looking after a hamster toy – only virtually! Select the pet of your choice, and care for it while you're on the go. To entertain both the hamster and yourself, there are 30 different mazes to explore. Doing this wins you carrots, coins and stars for expanding your gameplay.
As you progress, more challenging mazes will include skateboards and hamster balls for your lovable pet to interact with. Make friends with fellow hamsters and you can unlock them and care for those too! While you're having fun with your Zhu Zhu Pet, don't forget to remember that you have to take care of it as well – food, exercise, rest and affection are all things a good owners needs to show when adopting a virtual hamster as cute as these!
