Summary

The Total War series has quite the following with the PC RTS crowd, and for good reason – it's built on enjoyable army-based action, coupled with the interesting background of historic battles. In this latest edition, you're following in the footsteps – or bitterly fighting against – the legendary Napoleon Bonaparte.

Chronicling the campaigns of the French war leader, the Campaign mode fittingly includes two decades of Napoleon's most famous battles from the early Italian missions to the epic Battle of Waterloo. We all know how that one ended, but using your leadership skills and troop management capabilities perhaps you can turn the course of history.

Three Campaigns can be taken on, from Italy to Egypt and then the Mastery of Europe. The inclusion of both objective-based missions and sandbox play makes this a unique entry in the Total War series. Turn-based and real-time strategy is required to get ahead. If you have a friend you can tackle a whole host of multiplayer modes as well.

Some of the extensive online functionalities on offer include achievements on the Steam platform, gameplay bonuses for leading your troops well, a uniform editor to distinguish yourself and voice communications. Don't worry, you won't need to learn any French to smack talk your pals.
