Summary

The Phoenix Wright games have always been well-written, humorous adventures in the quirky world of law investigations. Until now, we have simply been defending people under suspicion of murder and other serious crimes.

Phoenix's rival, Miles Edgeworth, was always there to prosecute the defendant until proven innocent, but now you get to walk in Edgeworth's shoes and explore crime scenes to find the evidence that he so casually produces in the courtroom. Using the touchscreen to move Edgeworth around will allow you to explore locations freely.

There's still the classic dialogue that the Ace Attorney series is best known for, and if any witnesses or key people in the case throw up any contradictions in their stories, you can present items that will put them in a tight spot. A combination of evidence, collected information and logic is required to become a successful investigator.

Speaking of logic, this element opens a new gameplay feature for the series, in that you can combine two different pieces of information to uncover new secrets that alter the findings of the case drastically. Confronting potential witnesses in investigations works similarly to the Court system in the Phoenix Wright games, bringing some familiarity into this new spin-off title.

With multiple lengthy episodes – including one where Edgeworth is accused of murder himself – this will be the perfect addition to arguably some of the best storybook adventure games on the Nintendo DS.
