Summary

Let's Tap, understandably, will ring alarm bells for many. It's a game that's based around the world's simplest peripheral – a box. What it actually presents, however, is one of the smartest uses of the Wii Remote to come from outside Nintendo.

The game is the brainchild of Prope, the studio formed by Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka back in 2006. It also happens to be the first time one of the studio's games has come to the West. The core control mechanism is simple – you place your Wii Remote on one of the boxes provided, calibrate it and then tap on the box to control the game. The Wii Remote will pick up subtle vibrations in the box's surface and you're off!

There are five main modes to get to grips with. In Tap Runner players have to deliver different levels of pressure to the box to guide stick men over an obstacle course. In Visualiser, players create different visual effects such as fireworks and paint strokes as they tap out patterns that correspond to different displays. Silent Blocks is, essentially, 'Tap Jenga'. Bubble Voyager has players shooting through space, destroying obstacles and enemies to reach the far reaches of space. Finally, there's Rhythm Tap, which has players tap in time to high energy music.

The whole thing comes with lo-fi visuals that will tickle former Dreamcast users and a multi-player mode that will make it a great addition to any party.
