Summary

Some people might say that innovation is all too rare in today's video gaming world. But Atari aims to prove those people wrong with Demigod, with the company claiming the game is the first to combine action, role-playing and realtime strategy.

In the game, you choose your Demigod from a selection on offer, each of which has different capabilities and awesome powers. Rook, Unclean Beast, Torchbearer and Regulus are Assassin Demigods, and are used for RPG style strategy. Vampire Lord, Sedna, Oak, and Queen of Thorns are Generals, and can summon units to help fight alongside them.

Then you set about defeating other would-be gods in order to increase your power. This is done by earning gold and experience by defeating your opponents and capture "nodes". Your competition in Demigod can be either other human players or AI opponents, and you combat them using a mouse-click-based control scheme that makes the game simple to get to grips with. The wealth of upgrades and strategy options make it compelling enough to stick at.

As your Demigod levels up, you will gain access to new abilities through the talent tree. Each Demigod has its own talent tree with a blend of unique offensive, defensive and team skills. As you level up, you unlock the power of mystic artifacts in an attempt to battle your way closer to joining the Pantheon of true gods.

The game looks fabulous and sounds just about as good, but some players may be disappointed by the lack of a single player story-based game. There is a single player game, but this takes the form of a series of ranked matches against the AI.
