Summary
Big Bang Mini is one of the first great shooters for the DS of 2009. Like Space Invaders Extreme, it's a crazy psychedelic experience with simple but solid gameplay.
The theme here is fireworks. Big Bang Mini takes classic arcade gameplay and wraps it around an explosion of bright colour. Players guide their 'ship' through a barrage of light, dodging firework debris as it rains down from the heavens. You might even start to feel yourself succumbing to sensory overload, so be careful!
Your ship is controlled using the stylus through a game area that spans both the DS's screens. Not only is your stylus your means of travel - it's also your weapon. Shooting is done by flicking it across the touch screen in the direction of the competition. Be careful though - missed bullets will turn into shrapnel which might come back to haunt you!
The stylus also controls the specific abilities you get in each level. A horizontal line might grant you some temporary shielding, or a vertical flick might slow time down.
Adding to the chaos and the challenge is versus play, not to mention online rankings to see how you stack up against the competition.
