Summary

Life as a human can be hard enough, but imagine being about three inches high and made of... fungus. Such is the life of the Mushroom Men. The name was a bit of a giveway, wasn't it?

As you may or may not have noticed on your innocent wanderings through the woods looking at mushrooms, they're not typically alive. The Mushroom Men are different, because an ichorous green meteor has plummeted to Earth, bestowing life on previously non-sentient lifeforms such as mushrooms and cacti, and warping and mutating the animals around it.

Rise of the Fungi takes place before its Wii companion game in the early days of the Mushroom Men, following them as they learn to understand and interact with the world around them. Unfortunately, the peace is not set to last. While the Bolete Tribe and the Morels may be happy to exist and prosper in peace, the Amanitas Empire considers itself above the others, choosing to try and conquer the other mushrooms.

With players leaping into action to defend their people, Rise of the Fungi is a mix-up of platforming and adventure gameplay. Players make their way around rich and varied levels, choosing from multiple routes and scouring their surroundings for pick-ups. There's a pretty good chance they'll have to take out some enemies on the way, though. (The world's pretty dangerous when you're three inches high, y'know?) But fear not! Helping out with the combat is the scavenging and weapons system that enables players to build all manner of contraptions from the goodies they find lying around.

Think The Borrowers, but with a more fungal theme!
