Summary

Phantasy Star Universe was a big enough experience all by itself. Not only did it expand on previous Phantasy Star games by upping the number of worlds to explore to three, it also offered a whopping 40 hours of gameplay for players to make their way through. And that was before you even made it online...

Well, evidently SEGA didn't think that was quite big enough. To that end, the publisher has brought Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus - an expansion of Phantasy Star Universe - to the gaming hordes.

So what does Ambition of the Illuminous bring to the show? Well, you've got a movement called the Illuminus, for one. These Human fundamentalists run amok in the peaceful Gurhal System, throwing the government into chaos. Using their custom-made Guardian, players will wander new levels such as the Ruins of Old Rozenom City and the Granigs Mines. They'll also stumble across familiar characters such as Ethan Waber, as well as fresh faces like Guardian instructor Laia Martinez. You won't, of course, just be wandering around for a chat. Expect new (and more powerful) enemies and new class types to master.

Phantasy Star Universe's online experience has been enhanced, too. Players who venture beyond the single-player mode will find expanded lobbies to mix in, including the new Casino Voloyal (where they'll be able to dabble in a spot of roulette or time on the slots). New weapon types, armour, Photon Arts and clothing will enable greater customisation of your character, while Rooms have been upgraded to allow players to add more of their personal touch to their own space.
