Summary
Making its debut on the Nintendo DS, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: Genie & the Amp follows the amazing adventures of two female pop stars from Cartoon Network's animated rock series, entitled Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi.
The two girls have lost time in recording their highly anticipated new album because they have encountered writer's block. Fortunately, they discover a genie behind an old amplifier who helps them 'rock' through 10 fascinating time periods in history, including the Dinosaur Age, Ancient China, Ancient Rome and the Wild West. There are also eras unique to the game and the Cartoon Network series, such as Manga Mayhem and Jungle Ki Ki. In each of these time periods, players must gain the relevant musical notes needed to play the ultimate world tour. Collect ingredients and make sushi to upgrade the girls' health, luck, wealth or attack power.
In single player mode, players assume the role of either Ami or Yumi as you use their guitars to attempt to solve difficult puzzles, battle scary enemies and unlock fun mini-games such as Crane Machine where the aim is to win more money, stylish clothes and view additional character models. It is also possible to search for a special American Football icon to unlock Gridiron Maiden, which is an American Football themed mini-game based on an episode from the Cartoon Network series.
The game also supports the wireless feature for the Nintendo DS, with a multiplayer cooperative mode for up to two players.
