Summary

Boog is the reluctant hero of Open Season. This friendly, 900lb grizzly bear wants nothing more than to go on living with his friend, Ranger Beth, who rescued him when he was but a cub. Boog and Beth live in a town called Timberline. He's really comfortable with living around humans and is the main attraction in the local nature show. Boog lives the good life; he's be at a loss if he ever had to go native and 'rough it' in the forest. Instead, he enjoys sleeping in the garage and riding in the back of Beth's truck. And then…one day, a pesky one-horned mule deer named Elliot comes into his life and changes it forever. Without wanting to give too much away, Elliot gets Boog into some trouble which forces Beth to despatch the pair of them to the forest for good. Lost in the wilderness, Boog and Elliot suddenly realise that the hunting season is about to begin.

All Boog wants to do is to get back to his comfy garage in Timberline. To do so, he has to learn how to make friends with the other animals and get them to help in scaring away the hunters. There are many amusing ways in which you can do this, such as setting about the hunters with Psycho Ducks and using skunks as flamethrowers! Both Boog and Elliot are controllable, and the player will have to switch between characters at certain points to progress. For example, Boog may have to pick Elliot up and throw him at a hunter or hostile animal to proceed. The game is full of such quirky delights with 40 or so missions to prove that you can unleash your inner animal and take the forest back. It's man vs. nature, and the guys with the guns aren't gonna win this time!

The DS version includes a multiplayer mode featuring biscuit collection too. What more can one ask of a game?
