Summary

In Caesar IV, players must assume the role of an aspiring governor of a newly formed province within the Roman Empire. The premise of the game is straightforward enough; you must advance up the empire's political ladder until you ultimately become Caesar.

As governor, gamers will enjoy total control over their province. This will include such areas as financial, military and city planning. Build your city in any imaginable way, using more than 100 unique structures. Then sit back and marvel at your city in full 3D. There are over 75 unique characters to interact with within your governed city. It is paramount that players make sure their citizens have everything necessary to stay happy, healthy and safe from barbarian threats. To ward off barbaric invasions, gamers must take direct control over their legions, who gain experience through combat and training. With over 30 tradable goods, four markets, 10 industries and foreign trade routes, the economic possibilities are vast. As your Roman city grows, from a tiny village to a cosmopolitan metropolis, so too will the challenges that face you. As you become more successful, you will be presented with various new challenges in other provinces within the Roman Empire, until ultimately you are given Rome.

With over 100 hours of gameplay, including Career Mode, Sandbox Mode and numerous stand-alone competitive scenarios, there should be something to keep even the most powerful tyrant occupied.
