Summary
Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum for the PS2 sees the two characters go to Julius Caesar’s theme park Las Vegum following the disappearance of the druids, except for a strangely-acting Getafix (the head druid of Asterix’s village in Gaul). The game is packed with surprising encounters that parody the greatest icons of the video game world. It is also full of witty references to many of the greatest moments in video game history. Gamers must assume the role of the brave little warrior Asterix and are accompanied by his best friend Obelix.
The game takes players on an action-packed tour of the amazing Las Vegum theme park, known as the city of games, and the brainchild of Julius Caesar. Its labyrinthine streets will lead you through the districts of Little Paris, LuckSore, Little Venetia, WCW, Pirate Island, and even SeizeUs Palace. The village druid Getafix is behaving very strangely indeed, and the other acclaimed druids of the Roman Empire have disappeared into thin air. So it’s up to the heroes of the game, Asterix and Obelix, to solve this strange puzzle and hopefully save the day.
Atari claims that Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum is the first videogame parody ever made. You may recognise well-known characters from other videogames, including a shorts-wearing Centurion called Larry Craft and a Roman spy called Sam Scieffer.
