Summary

Along with Maximo/Arthur, Ken, Ryu, and Dante, Mega Man is one of the most recognisable characters in Capcom’s rich portfolio. The Mega Man Zero series on GBA has been his home in recent years, where he has continued to satisfy his fans with a trademark blend of platform, adventure and shoot-em-up action.

Now the Mega Man known as Zero returns for the fourth in his continuing adventures on Nintendo’s hardy little handheld. The peaceful land of Neo Arcadia has been overrun by the forces of the sinister Dr. Weil, and humans and reploids are at each others’ throats. Zero learns of the disruption from a group of humans fleeing the area and leaps into action immediately. Zero is more versatile than ever before, and using an ingenious device called the Zero Knuckle can use the weapons of his vanquished enemies for his own purposes. Not only that, he can further cannibalise the equipment of his fallen foes to create all new items and chips that enhance his already impressive abilities.

Jump, shoot and blast your way to bring freedom to Neo Arcadia, across 16 stages, each with its own formidable boss who must be beaten to proceed. You’ll need to use everything you can from the bosses you’ve already defeated to beat those waiting for you next. And in between you’ll have to beat the 40 other enemies that are programmed to destroy you on sight.

We’ve got a lot of time for the traditional platform shooter and it’s great to see the genre still has much to offer, and as the only 16 bit console around these days, the GBA is its natural home.
