In recent years, eager to expand their stake in a growing market, legendary toy company Lego have developed the Bionicle range of products. The Bionicle Lego sets are action figure-like robots which you have to make, and often have devices that fire projectiles or make their arms swing. After a first outing published by Lego Media, Electronic Arts were responsible for publishing the video game spin-offs of the toys, which were developed by London-based Argonaut.
Bionicle: Maze of Shadows, is a new videogame adaptation of the franchise, based on the novel of the same name, and features the Bionicle models new for 2004. The Toa Metru are six great heroes, and they search for the power to awaken their sleeping people, the Matoran. Entering a deadly underground labyrinth, they are captured by the evil Karzhahni. Now they must go deeper into the puzzles and traps that make the Maze of Shadows, watching out for the horrible Rahi as they do so.
Taking control of all six Toa Metru, Bionicle fans will enjoy this top-down RPG adventure with dramatic combat sequences. The game connects to other GBAs for multiplayer play, and as well as the single player game, there are two supplementary modes to add to the main story, seeing players puzzle their way through the six distinct areas of the maze collecting discs and special techniques, in search of the lair of the fiendish Makuta. If they are to save their people, the Toa Metru are going to need to keep their wits about them.
