Summary

Last year’s Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, brought strategy to the Xbox, allowing you to hand pick your own armies and hone your tactical skills, before taking the battle online and bragging about your skills of generalship on Xbox Live!

Now, once again developed by Phantagram exclusively for the Xbox, comes the follow-up: Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes. The game once again takes place in the land of Bersia, with is split into four territories: Hironeiden, Ecclesia, Vellond and Hexter. The action happens at the same time as that of the original game, but explore events leading up ‘Crusaders’, as well as little known goings on that took place during the period but which were not available to explore at the time. Still, it centres around the invasion of Hironeiden by the mysterious Dark Legion.

The Heroes of the titles refers to seven playable heroic characters. As well as giving you command of armies like its predecessor, KUF: Heroes allows you to take your warrior into battle invidually, to hack and slash in their own unique way. Each character has their own campaign missions to take part in, as well as there being a storyline to follow for each of them. There are 50 all new campaign missions to tackle in all, and extra longevity is added, too: not just by the random mission mode which generates challenges for you, but also by the custom mission mode which allows you to create your own challenging missions.

As well as all this single player fun, you get the Xbox Live! features than made the original popular. As well as troop battles, you can also take part in hero battles with your favourite heroes, or team up with other humans in co-op mode. A match balancing feature ensures that the conditions for battle are fair. If you liked Kingdom Under Fire first time round, then this new version is sure to please you.
