Summary

The boffins at Zuxxez Entertainment AG are best known for their long-running Earth saga. Now they’ve turned their attention to a third decade in the future history they say is in store for our planet.

The bleak science fiction future that began with Earth 2140 continues with Earth 2160, published by Deep Silver. You may remember the struggles between the three factions of Earth 2150 were so violent that they ended in the effective destruction of our planet. Now all three peoples have arrived on Mars and established colonies there. The leaders of the Eurasian dynasty are now charged with the regenerating of the human race. The peaceful Lunar Corporation must adapt their movable skyscrapers to the Martian landscape. The people of the United Civilised States have been slightly less fortunate. The technophiles were all executed during the space flight to Mars by the very robots they designed to serve them. Now these self-aware, self-replicating machines are a new force to be reckoned with in the solar system.

For the first time though, these three bitter enemies might be tempted to work together. It seems that their recent activities have disturbed the slumber of ancient aliens imprisoned beneath Mars’ surface. Who imprisoned them there is lost in the mists of our solar system’s prehistory. But why it was done is clear – the bug-like aliens are thoroughly nasty and will not rest until they dominate the entire universe. And so a fourth playable faction is added to the list.

Zuxxez’s future real-time strategy retains many of the same elements as before – mine resources, build structures, allocate funds to research in the fields of your choice. Raise armies and raze the settlements of your enemies to the ground. Modular construction means that your army will look more personalised, and the world of the future is brought to life more vividly than ever before using the new Earth 4 engine. The only limit to the rich detail on your screen will be imposed by your own hardware.

Each race has its own unique single player campaign, and up to eight players can duke it out over internet or LAN. Our solar system’s future need not be so bleak – shape it yourself, or gleefully destroy it all, in Earth 2160.
