Summary

Misleading game title ahoy! Yes, it's the unmistakeable style of the European ideas factory that is Davilex, and just when you thought it was safe to lock the garage and toss the car keys in that sparsely populated fruit bowl, they're back, and they're going global with London Racer: World Challenge.

The original London Racer games sold in their hundreds of thousands across Europe, and as we've already intimated, this game goes a little bit further than England's capital. Paris, Berlin, New York and Los Angeles are included on a global map that features a splendid 76 courses spread across 16 cities. The game features all of the old favourite features from previous outings, like the Nitro Turbo Boost, which gives a sense of incredible speed. Picking the ideal moment to use these boosts is essential to perform effectively in London Racer: World Challenge. Improved competitor AI means plenty of interaction with your fellow racers, providing a truly challenging race experience.

It's all very well racing against cars powered by the computer, but what you really need to do to get the most out of London Racer: World Challenge is get some human competition. The gameplay is essentially the same as in solo mode, but with the added incentive of putting one over on a friend. You still have to shake off the police, whichever country you're racing in. Davilex have included localised versions of law enforcement in each country. So does this mean that you'll fly through the streets of New York while the cops are hanging at the pretzel stand? What about the Berlin Polizei in their delightful ecru and taupe oufits? Can they really be as, erm, mean as they look? Play London Racer: World Challenge and find out…
