Industry Giant II begins in America at the turn of the century and ends in the year 1980. As with its predecessor, the player slips into the role of an entrepreneur trying to create an enterprise of global extent.
The player is responsible for the purchase of raw materials, processing, distribution and sales. An enhancement over Industry Giant is the ability to select among the different steps of production. You may produce goods and sell them to distributors or take over the role of the distributor yourself. Ship and handle your goods with the help of more than 50 different means of transportation such as ships, locomotives, or trucks.
The Industry Giant II expansion that makes up the Gold Edition gives players the unique opportunity to create an industrial empire from 1980 to 2020 where items such as mobile phones and computers are available for manufacture, distribution and selling as well as a massive range of exciting new industries that haven't even been developed in real-life yet. In total a massive 56 new and exciting products are included in the Industry Giant II Add On. In addition, 17 new transport types such as high-speed trains and innovative planes will give players exciting challenges to overcome in the search for profit.
