Summary

It is the 1700's, and you, dear gamer, are a pirate. A lust for the finer, shinier things in life is pretty much all that you know, and while you stand to gain many trinkets and baubles on your watery travels, you will also face trouble in the shape of other pirates and their crews, intent on taking their share of the booty. You have the chance to make your personal wealth grow, and increase your homeland's income by force or by profitable trade. As a willing fighter and crafty negotiator, your character can develop a strategy to forge a reputation as a fearsome pirate or a respected leader.

Life at sea is no picnic, but the rewards are huge if you can keep your band of baddies happy. You can do this by sharing out your hard-won lootings and keeping your men well fed. Corsairs Gold comprises of the complete version of the original Corsairs and the Corsairs expansion, The New Conquerors. This means more than 50 missions to complete across the seas of the southern hemisphere, and campaigns to carry out on behalf of the four great maritime nations of the period -England, France, Spain and Holland.

Sailing the oceans in search of treasure isn't all about fighting everyone you come across. Exploring new territories sometimes offers the opportunity to enter into negotiations with other galleons with regard to their crewmen and their spoils. Sometimes you simply don't have to loot - trading is an option.

Sea legs are not necessary to enjoy Corsairs Gold on PC. The visuals don't make you feel nauseous like the real thing (we assume!) with the combo viewpoint working just fine, depending on whether you're sailing along, battling or trading.
