Summary

It has to be said that dodgeball is a seldom-covered sport when it comes to computer and video games. In fact, if you don't count those painful PE lessons at school, where you'd be running around in just a pair of ill-fitting shorts whilst the school's answer to Mike Tyson tries to assassinate you with a medicine ball, then you don't really see much of the sport in general. Well Midas seem to be trying to reintroduce the old brutal favourite with the release of this latest PSX budget game, Super Slammin' Dodgeball.

Dodgeball itself is a relatively simple activity and, as such, the game follows suit: try and hit the opposite team with the ball and don't get hit yourself. There are eight mean teams and plenty of special moves, so the game also presents you with quite a challenge. You have to get the best out of your own players if you hope to challenge the ultimate team, known as the mighty 'Elementals'.

With 2D, cartoon-style visuals, Super Slammin' Dodgeball wouldn't look out of place back in the old 16-bit SNES/Megadrive era. The gameplay found within is also on par, offering a simple, quickfire selection of single games, tournaments and two-player versus modes. Topping things off we find a diverse cast of wacky characters that go to liven things up in a kind of 'cheap and cheerful' way.
