Summary

Will sir be taking the car or motorcycle today? It's a tough choice when faced with Need For Speed: Porsche 2000 and Moto Racer 2, bundled into the same case as a bargain package from Electronic Arts.

Moto Racer is a motorcycling sim or arcade game, depending on what you choose from the options menu. Whichever you go for, entertainment is guaranteed. Both arcade and simulation modes offer the same courses and bikes, but novices are better off trying arcade first - it's more forgiving when you bump into other riders and you'll stay on your machine if you scrape the odd wall. The number of options once you've selected the game mode is a delight. There's so much to do.

There are many different machines to ride, road bikes and MX trial bikes are plentiful, and run the whole gamut of engine sizes. There are daytime and night-time races, variable weather conditions, a replay gallery, and a track editor. Not satisfied with the regular 32 tracks? Make your own then, and concoct your own championship with your exclusively designed courses. Needless to say, the replay value in Moto Racer 2 in enormous.

When you're done with the two-wheeled experience, immerse yourself in the automotive legend that is Porsche. In Need For Speed: Porsche 2000, you'll find models from the illustrious history of the German manufacturer, gorgeous sports cars whose form has changed little through the decades, but have always remained ultimately stylish and desirable.

There may be just the one marque on offer in this game, but the depth of gameplay in Porsche 2000 makes up for the lack of other sports supercars. Evolution mode takes the player, initially, back to the fifties, and invites you to purchase your first Porsche. Perform well, and progression through the various ages of Porsche is your reward, as well as credits for upgrades and more cars becoming available to you. By the end of the Evolution mode you should have a garage full of cars, all Porsche.

Evolution mode will keep you busy for a long while, but even more fulfilling is the Factory Driver mode. Signing up with the Porsche team as a fresh-faced rookie driver, you'll find yourself at the behest of the team boss who will put you through your paces with some increasingly demanding challenges and tests. Top performance in Factory Driver mode will reward you with gift cars from the company which can be saved for use later in the game, and, best of all, in other game modes.

For those of you looking for a fast-fix in a souped-up motor, quick race modes include Capture The Flag, Chase, and Time Battle. All great fun, especially in multiplayer mode.

Moto Racer 2 and NFS: Porsche 2000 bound together for a bargain price? If you're still clinging on to your PlayStation and neither title is in your collection, we can highly recommend this double pack.
