Summary

Imagine having a relaxing round of golf with your mates on a Sunday afternoon. Imagine then combining that with the competitive pressure of a PGA tournament. That would spice things up a bit. Well that's exactly what Tiger Woods PGA 2003 does, delivering a kind of fast and furious, yet laid back golf game that requires you to unleash your clubs and take on a host of PGA pros across a multitude of faithfully rendered real-life courses.

There are a total of 14 official PGA courses to master - some old, some new - including Pebble Beach, the Royal Birkdale, Scottsdale, and Torrey Pines. 17 golfing stars are in there to compete either as or against, including the likes of Vijay Singh, Colin Montgomerie, Jesper Parnevik, and Mark Calcavecchia, to name but a few. Oh, and Tiger Woods, incidentally.

Aside from the main 'putting of ball in hole' matches, the game ships with quite a few new modes. For one, SkillZone sees players buying a bucket of golf balls, before competing in a series of mini games in order to earn points. Also, in the Create-a-Course mode, players have the ability to choose 18 holes from all available courses and create a customised course. Any golf game fans will agree that that is most certainly a welcome addition.

A great list of features can be found, including a Total Precision Swing control method - that lets you control whether you hit straight, slice or draw - improved commentary from David Feherty and Bill Macatee, and a bizarre option that lets you play golf on city streets. Whatever takes your fancy.
