Summary
Disney Sports Football is the first of five sports titles featuring the likes of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Daisy, Minnie and a host of equally well known heroes and adversaries. As such, Disney Sports Football sees the instantly recognisable heroes leading their teams into a series of arenas for cup and league matches.
A delightful mix of arcade-orientated gameplay with all the passes, through balls and shots you'd expect from a football game, the GameCube version of Disney Sports Football also spices things up with a variety of special moves individual to each team. Donald Duck, for example, is capable of great turns of speed to pass defenders, while Mickey's fireball shot is guaranteed to leave most goalkeepers standing! The result is a game that will appeal to games players of any age, with a control system that allows for deft turns, delicate one-twos and acrobatic overhead kicks, yet is simple enough for novice gamers to get to grips with in seconds.
Additional depth is offered by a succession of league and cup modes, while completing key tasks in the game is used to unlock extra moves, teams and stadiums. The GameCube version of Disney Sports Football also enjoys TV-style coverage with cameras intelligently panning to capture the action, while an extensive replay mode shows off the greatest goals, comical celebrations and the incredible animation the Disney game enjoys.
