Summary

PC veteran JoWood is back again. This time it's an epic RPG, a big one, and it's called Archangel.

With a story reminiscent to the first few pages of a certain Stephen King novel, Michael Travinsky regains consciousness in an empty room with no recollection of the events that led him there. He remembers a crash in the snow, but has no bruises, no cuts or broken bones. In fact, he can't feel anything, he's cold... he's dead.

So, you have yourself a little mystery, dead guy, and you must go beyond the realms of science to solve it. Embarking upon your adventure in this 3D world, your quest will begin slowly as you try to fight your way out of the confusion. Interacting with dozens of NPCs, you will gain clues that will not only help you progress, but teach you to defend yourself against Archangel's myriad fantasy creatures.

The main game consists of three chapters, each divided into several sub-stages and dozens of surreal locales, but Archangel is more than a question of exploration: your behaviour throughout the adventure and the decisions you make have a serious outcome on how you play the game. Both monsters and NPCs alike are programmed with sophisticated AI routines that react according to the players' actions.

Completely localised and with hundreds of sound samples, Archangel is by and large one of the most atmospheric games we have seen. Combined with heavy doses of explore-em-up gameplay and fantasy battles, Archangel is one of the genre's hardcore RPG experiences.
