Summary

Very much in the same style as the legendary Punch Out, from the good old days of the Nintendo Entertainment System, Punch King delivers an easy to pick up, arcade boxing experience for the Game Boy Advance, albeit with the relevant technological overhauls of present day video game systems.

As with Nintendo’s boxing classic, players pit their wits against a selection of large, intimidating opponents, one after the other, in a bizarre first/third person crossover perspective (your guy is transparent, if you haven’t noticed already).

Featuring 18 unique fighters, each with their own individual fighting styles and attributes, Punch King has quite an array of boxers for you to smack your way through. This is mainly carried out in the Career mode. In this, players can create their own boxer before fighting their way to the top. Successful bouts earn winnings, which can then be used to purchase new punching combos and special moves.

An optional Link mode is available (with the help of a GBA link cable, of course) providing players with the opportunity to lay some serious damage on their friends. So, once the single player game is completed, longevity is assured for gamers with friends. We know you’re out there!
