Summary

Codemasters is a renowned UK developer responsible for the creation of the classic PSX racer Micro Machines. Eager to expand and improve on that success, Codemasters has released a title that’s just as addictive for Game Boy Color. Yes, this is Micro Maniacs, palm-of-your-hand style.

Guess what? The world is in chaos thanks to depleted food and fuel supplies. And guess what again? The only way to save the world is to shrink the planet and everybody on it, minimising the need for oil reserves and fields of corn.

That’s Doctor Minimizer’s opinion on things, and you, along with eight other freaks have been assigned to help him achieve his goal to extend our life on Earth.

Semi-comedic story aside, Micro Maniacs consists of 12 characters in all, that must progress through more than 30 bizarre racing environments that range from greasy garages to B&Bs. The game is played in an isometric perspective similar to that seen in Micro Machines, and players must race around the given circuit in the least amount of time possible. But the inclusion of weapons in Micro Maniacs makes for some interesting and unpredictable gameplay. The fireball fart, in particular, is especially amusing.

A link up mode for multi-player games is a boost, and offers endless hours of hilarious, challenging gameplay. Enjoy.
