Inspired by the cartoon series of the same name, which in turn was loosely based on the 2001 motion picture release Evolution, Alienators: Evolution Continues is a game tailor-made for the Game Boy Advance if ever weve seen one. This side-on platformer, with its hordes of not-so-friendly and very strange creatures, features plenty of the old running/jumping malarkey, and some gooey gun action.
Evolution, the movie, was all about a meteorite crashing to Earth, releasing a host of single-cell organisms that grew at an extremely quick rate. These unusual alien beings threaten to take over the planet and are foiled by a heroic (!?) trio, made up of a wannabe fireman, a geologist, and a community college science professor. The cartoon, and therefore the game, is simply a continuation of the films story, with the addition of a new, female character, Lt. Lucy Mai, a determined and single-minded soul, trained especially for alien combat. So lets blast away the aliens and save Earth. Easy. Or maybe not.
What do you get when you cross a chameleon with a parakeet? A chamelakeet, of course. A really nasty piece of work. And whats a sharkadillo, you may ask? It doesnt take a genius to work that one out. Therell be plenty of opportunities to meet some real freaks of (un)nature on your way through Evolution Continues. The alien creatures are bent on taking over the world, and you are charged with ridding our home planet of these bad muthas. Alienators: Evolution Continues places the emphasis on fun, and comes in the style of a classic platformer-cum-shoot-em-up. Its a top treat for fans of the cartoon, if not the movie, and yet another reason to get some more batteries for the Game Boy Advance. Youll need em, cos youll be playing this for hours.
