Summary

The Hoyle range of favoured games of any kind for PC has always been successful. Whether they are card games, casino games or addictive slot machines, the series has always catered for a wide audience. Eager maintain and even improve upon its reputation, Hoyle has released a kids series, imaginatively titled Hoyle Kids Games, again for PC.

In this particular series, each of the 15 games is simple and well known, due to its target audience. Some of the Hoyle Kids Games featured are Go Fish, Hangman, Memory Match, Checkers, Tic-Tac Toe and Snakes and Ladders.

To give the game a little personality, Sierra has included several get-to-like characters that consist of an alien from Mars, a talking Dinosaur, and a sassy businesswoman from the heart of English heritage. But if that’s not good enough for you, you can also create your own characters and customise them to a high level. You can even have a bald girl with a moustache if you’re in the mood.

But players of any age have been warned. The opposition is somewhat unforgiving, frustrating, and often you get the impression the players know just what you’re thinking. Spooooky. Nevertheless, winning one of these games is equally satisfying.

As a kids game, Hoyle Kids Games has been well designed. It’s bright, varied, colourful, and the games are easy to learn. That’s not to say it’s an easy game, just that it’s a great challenge and lots of fun.
