Summary

A partnership with Knowledge Adventure sees Fisher Price’s Rescue Heroes toys make an appearance on the PSone shelves. Obviously aimed at the younger gamer, Molten Menace places the player in charge of a group of rescue workers in the town of Misty Peaks, following the eruption of a nearby volcano.

Based across six missions, the title features two specific game modes: Training mode and Rescue Specialist mode, the latter being the main game whilst the former offers a little assistance along the way. There are also two types of missions. Rescue Missions place the player within a team of Rescue Heroes and involves finding the targets and completing the rescues. Special Missions gives the player control of different characters, each in possession of varying skills and talents, allowing them to complete the different missions specific to the characters. For example, one mission requires rescuing people from rooftops whilst avoiding electricity cables and lava from the volcano. In the Special Mission, the player’s task is to douse the flames with water from a plane. Completion of all the missions rewards the player with a Certificate of Honour, offering a position as an Honorary Member of the Rescue Heroes.

Rescue Heroes: Molten Menace is a simple, enjoyable game, with the emphasis on teaching children the importance of teamwork whilst having fun along the way.
