The name's Winch. Largo Winch. Doesn't quite roll of the tongue, does it? Yes, the French now have their very own sickeningly suave hero. He's not 007, but anything Bond can do, Winch can do better - apparently. Nevertheless, his popularity has extended beyond the realms of TV and into the virtual world of video games in PlayStation's Largo Winch: Commando SAR.

As one as the terrorist world's most hated faces and with a flare for getting himself into trouble, young businessman Largo Winch finds himself captured when he attends the opening of a medicine factory in Venezuela and witnesses the kidnapping of several scientists. Trapped in a storage bay, it soon becomes apparent that Largo himself is the prime target as a bomb is placed in his vicinity that will almost certainly result in his death. It's time to pick up your controller and get him the hell out of there.

Your first objective as the intrepid businessman is to escape the complex, but to do so you must employ sound stealth tactics. Careful thought and planning are crucial if you are to succeed. But we all know there's more to a Bond style adventure that simply hiding behind wooden crates and in squeaky-clean vents. You are well endowed with expensive gadgetry - use it.

The game design is similar to many 3D adventure titles, and often includes platform elements and plenty of action scenes. After all, your bound to be caught at some point, so you're gonna have to defend yourself.

The in game camera works very well, following closely behind the Largo, and rarely becomes frustrating. This, tied in with an intuitive control system, makes Commando SAR easily accessible and instantly playable.

So if you're a little bored with tuxedo-wearing secret agents and fancy a good Bond alternative, Largo Winch is your man.
