The history of the role-playing game is a long one to say the least. From the days of text-based role-playing, to the up-to-date, graphically enhanced representations of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the games in this genre continue to improve as the years pass. The increased development time for these epics is shown quite clearly in the finished product. Rune and its expansion pack, Halls of Valhalla, are fine examples of this, and now theyve been bundled into a single compilation, titled Rune Gold.
After the great success of Rune, the expansion treated gamers to a variety of new features and extended amenities. These included two new modes of play Headball and Arena as well as a multitude of new characters. Using the Unreal Tournament game engine, both games in the series were action spectaculars. And now that they have been re-released in a single package, Rune Gold is surely the cheapest and best way for gamers to catch up with the mayhem.
