Infogrames has managed to acquire the rights to include all Sea-Doo products from the water sports manufacturer, so at least authenticity is guaranteed in Splashdown. Developed by Rainbow Studios, Splashdown displays a high level of detail and graphical quality. Detailed backgrounds and character models are present, but the graphical and technical prowess is most strongly evident in Splashdown’s water effects. As well as being visually pleasing, the dynamics of the waves and method in which they affect the jet skis is very accurate.

Splashdown’s varied locations include California, Hawaii and Bali. Four standard game modes (Championship, Arcade, Vs and Training) help to give Splashdown a sufficient level of variety, improving the game’s longevity and replay value significantly.

Splashdown has a simultaneous two-player split-screen mode, which displays little if any slowdown.

When all of the above is placed together it creates a thoroughly playable, comprehensive and realistic water-based racing game, and that's exactly what Rainbow and Infogrames set out to achieve.
