Summary
There are many games based upon wars of the past, but it has to be said that fictitious wars of the future are a lot more fun to participate in. Jumping fifty years into the future, JoWood has produced Mayday. The year is 2051 and the world is in a state of war and international turmoil. Only three gangs remain, battling for what is left of the destroyed planet. There are no aliens, no alien planets, just a political conflict of mankind. The question is, whose side are you on?
Before playing, you will be given the option to participate as any of the three competitors, and view and play the missions from their perspective. Depending on which side you choose, the style of play will alter, effectively encouraging the player to the play the game three times over, giving Mayday an instant sense of longevity. Regardless of your chosen game, you will have to face a number of tricky obstacles, computer AI and challenging missions. There are forty missions in all that include a variety of hazardous locations with some amazing terrain effects. You will be given full control over your army’s offensive and defensive behaviour. As you successfully play through each mission, both yourself and your graphically generated friends will learn from the experience, courtesy of the amazing AI.
With all the aforementioned features, as well as over one hour of vital FMV, Mayday is an extremely polished war game that is worth a look to any player.
