Summary

While Scooby Doo has always been popular, it’s only in recent years that the big dog has, erm, spread his wings. He is still popular as a cartoon character, and is set to take a shot at movies and a series of video games. Among these releases is Scooby Doo: Showdown in Ghost Town.

After stumbling across another unsolved mystery while taking a ride in the Mystery Machine, Scooby and the gang can’t help but investigate. After they begin their investigation of Los Burritos, they soon find that the town is haunted. Afraid, but as ingenuously brave as ever, Scooby and Shaggy are about to embark upon their scariest adventure yet.

Soon after beginning a game, you will quickly realise just how similar this game is to the animated series. You must search 25 fully interactive areas thoroughly for clues, information and useful objects. But these items aren’t always just lying around in the grass; many of them must be earned though solving puzzles, some of which are quite challenging. For all you Scooby Doo veterans, Spookier and Spooktacular difficulty settings are available. After solving the mystery of the Faceless Rider, gamers looking for replay value should note that the outcome of the mystery can be different each time. This feature boosts game longevity considerably.

The bottom line is that Showdown in Ghost Town is simply an interactive cartoon. It’s filled with comedy, courtesy of Scooby and Shaggy, the gameplay is a lot of fun, and the replay value, different game endings and all, is huge.
