Summary

There aren’t too many good rally games on the PC that offer arcade style rallying gameplay as good as V-rally 2. If you are a fan of the racing genre, then V-rally 2 is one game that you don’t want to miss out on.

The gameplay in V-rally 2 is broken up into four main sections, arcade, championship, rally trophy and finally a time trail mode. The arcade mode is fast and furious and highly enjoyable to play in a fashion similar to Sega Rally. Don’t worry to much about your car losing speed as you throw it sideways around the corners. The championship involves a series of races against other cars and your point total is accumulative. The rally trophy mode tries to be more simulation based and the time tail mode allows you to practice the tracks and beat your own times.

The graphics in V-rally 2 are high-resolution and if your PC and graphics card are up to it move at a extremely smooth frame rate. The audio is also well done and if you have your PC connected to a hi-fi, crank the volume and just hear how powerful your engine is as it roars through the gears.

One of the best features of V-rally 2 on the PC is the built in track editor. It is so easy to design your own track layout. You can choose either an A to B race or join your circuit up so you can have multiple laps. Once you have laid it out, decide on the country and weather and the altitude of your track. Yes, roller coasters can be used for good inspiration although you can’t pass under your track. Once complete, have fun racing it and then upload it to Infogrames website so others can race it.

V-rally 2 is a top arcade rally game, we would recommend it.
