Summary

While the industry’s big players get the most attention for their games releases, there are smaller companies that are often equally capable of developing reasonable games. Two little known companies, Aqua Pacific and Project Two Interactive are the people responsible for producing ACM 1918 for PC, a flight simulator based in wartime.

Soon after the creation of engine-powered planes, man is already at war with man. Back in the day, battles in the sky were something previously never witnessed by humans, but as a new pilot, your task is to get into the air and sort things out. Featuring a whole host of warplanes, including the Fokker DR1 Triplane and the Albatross D-III, selecting your preferred combat machine is a tough choice. For those you new to the genre, Aqua Pacific has included a compulsory training level. There you will learn to fly through hoops and shoot and bomb specified targets in a similar fashion to that in Nintendo classic Pilot Wings. Piloting such an agile craft will initially prove a little awkward to begin with, and requires lots of patience, but once mastered, your level of control will be unparalleled. After completing this challenge, you are free to tackle one of the games twenty missions and scenarios.

As a complete game, ACM 1918 offers a great challenge to any player, no matter how experienced in the genre. Aqua Pacific and Project Two have done well here. Chocks away chaps, a jolly good show.
