The diversity of the racing genre can often seem to be restricted. Racing is racing, after all, right? But many of these games employ so many other strategies that each one is different from the next. Mario Kart and Gran Turismo are fine examples. But who would have thought that the Smurfs would be following suit? Well, they are, with the release of 321 Smurf, a racing game designed for a young gamer.

Aimed at a 4-7 year old audience, there are many features that are of the simplest nature to appeal to the kids. First of all, and perhaps most importantly, Smurfs features an exceptionally easy handling system with an increased difficulty setting that allows the youngest player to win more easily. The game’s tracks have been developed to be very wide and forgiving, lacking in nasty chicanes and hairpin corners. Smurfs also boasts a number of bonus levels, as well as a battle zone, similar to that in Nintendo classic Mario Kart. Each of the nine playable tracks is located in classic Smurf environments, such as Gargamel’s Manor and the Schlips village. Your favourite Smurfs are also present, allowing you to race with the likes of Hefty Smurf and Brainy. But the game’s 2-player option will no doubt prove to be most popular, keeping the kids’ attention long enough for a coffee break. Yay!

321 Smurf is an ideal purchase for fans of the franchise, most of which are within the targeted age group. Spot on.
