Summary

It seems that recently, the popularity of Sabrina the Teenaged Witch has spread from the television and into the home computers and consoles of the video games industry. New for GameBoy Color is yet another incarnation of the teenaged witch’s adventures in the form of Sabrina Zapped! Unlike her PC counterparts, this version delves into the wonders of the platform genre. Due to the obvious limitations of the GameBoy Color, it comes as no surprise, that, although a recent platform game, Zapped is a simple, easy to get to grips with, 2D platform game.

As it turns out, Sabrina’s efforts to take the easy way out get her into trouble yet again when she casts a spell and turns everyone into wild animals. Here’s where you come in. With the help of Salem, you (Sabrina) must hunt down every wild animal and return the people to their normal state. But beware, these humans are a little peeved with your actions, and thus, aren’t very friendly. The basic platforming levels from the beginning of the game soon turn into vast, complex levels that will take some time to investigate. Also, the system of progression means that you’re not able to access the next stage of the game without rescuing a complete set of wild animals from the whole of the current level.

A typical run-and-jump platformer, this one. Targeted for the younger, female audience, Sabrina Zapped may not reach a broad audience, but for those interested, it is worth a look.
