Summary
While most video game genres have their own distinct attributes, there are a number of games that combine a mixture of genres to target as big an audience as possible. Two genres that are often interspersed, but mainly seen in PC games, are the RTS and RPG genres. But there are a few exceptions for consoles, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI is one of them.
The whole of Romance VI takes place in heavily populated China. Here, your ultimate goal within the game is to build, control and manage a series of independent establishments, expanding your empire across the whole of the country. Sounds easy, yes? Your opposition will fight in numbers so you should prepare for a bloody battlefield. Some regions should not be tackled until your resources are plentiful.
As the sixth game in the popular series, Romance 6 boasts many refined features, improving the flow of gameplay. New and improved battle units including Northern Riders and the naval units of Wu will feature in a refined battle system, allowing for more tactical strategies.
The game follows a complex plot as well as an equally complicated menu system that requires frequent visits to the manual to get to grips with. But once you have learned the basics, the rest will become second nature. Chronological records, 500 unique characters and 100 historical event sequences all help to make Romance 6 the best in the series. Roll on Romance VII.
