Summary

Back in 1993, Nintendo launched Super Mario Kart. From that day forth it seemed that there wasn’t another game in the racing genre that could even come close. Even to this day (2000) developers are still trying to top an old 16-bit title. Among those endeavouring to get onto the triple-A list is RC Revenge.

The first, and most noticeable difference between RC Revenge and its best selling elder is the application of the PlayStation’s 3D capabilities. RC Revenge features tiny little radio controlled vehicles, some of which are amphibious, helping to vary the gameplay a little. The most interesting addition to RC Revenge are the weapons. They can be used to either help you, or hinder other drivers, preventing them from winning the race. There are a number of themed environments to race in, including horror, jungle and monster type tracks.

As with any racing game, RC Revenge’s 2-player mode will provide the most fun for most of you. Be warned, however, games like this are good at breaking up friends. It’s that competitive.

RC Revenge doesn’t offer anything special in terms of a racing game, but it is an enjoyable Mario Kart clone.
