Summary

What is an equestrian? Well, those of you not familiar with the concept of horse riding will probably find no interest in this game at all. Equestriad 2001 is all about horse riding, believe it or not. The event isn’t hugely popular on TV, so it would come as a surprise that a video game was to be released on such an isolated sport. Well, you’d better believe it baby, because here it comes.

There are more events involved with horse riding that you would think. Amongst these are the more popular show jumping and cross country events. You will be tested on how well you can control and manoeuvre your horse, on how well you jump, and speed. Many of you will no doubt struggle to begin with, so thankfully, there is a training option. Here, you can practice to your hearts content until you have the urge to take on the real thing. You can choose from single day events, to more extensive 3 day events, whilst continually being judged on your performance. Penalties are incurred, particularly in show jumping, through collapsing the horizontal bars on the fences. The trick of the game is to put in a flawless performance, regardless of the speed.

Equestriad 2001 is a specialist game, and should only be approached by players who know the sport. But if you’re willing to try something new, then this is the game to try.
