Summary

Magical Tetris Challenge for the Nintendo 64 brings a classic game bang up to date. The simplicity and addictiveness of Tetris are two of the reasons why it has enjoyed phenomenal success since it’s launch. Tetris is a game that can be played by almost everyone, even people that don’t like video games. The object of the game is to fit different shaped falling pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle. When a line is completed, it disappears and you score points. The more lines that are cleared the faster and subsequently more difficult Tetris becomes.

Magical Tetris Challenge introduces a story element that involves popular Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. The story is different depending on who is selected and gives a great incentive to play through the game with everyone. The majority of Tetris Challenge is Vs. orientated, either against the computer or a friend. By being quicker than your opponent and clearing lines (preferably more than one at once), it’s possible to throw a spanner into your rivals’ plans. If you can make your opposition lose, you win.

One of the best new features in Magical Tetris Challenge is the new shapes. When the pieces are falling like crazy, every once in a while an unusual one comes along. This can throw you off guard and cause panic. There are several new shapes and they add a fantastic new twist to the action. This game should come with a warning on the box, something like ‘Danger – sleep loss imminent’.
